A refueling stop that became a lake suburb
The CN&L Railroad set up a steam-locomotive water stop here in February 1890, the settlement incorporated December 24, 1890 under a name combining officials C.J. Iredell and H.C. Moseley, and Irmo's population expanded after Lake Murray formed between 1927 and 1930.
